Background & production
A brand from William Grant & Sons, owners of Glenfiddich and Balvenie. It blends malt from just three of the company's Speyside distilleries — Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie — with no grain whisky, making it a blended malt.
The whiskies are matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and blended in small batches.
The name refers to the 'monkey shoulder' ailment suffered by the maltmen who turned malting barley by hand. The three monkeys on the shoulder of the bottle represent the three malts in the blend. Bottled at 40% ABV.
