How to enjoy it

  • Neat
  • On the rocks
  • With water

Neat or with an equal splash of water brings out the roundness of long ageing. Over ice, the sweetness tightens up nicely.

Food pairing

Nuts, dried fruit and chocolate. Also roast pork or duck confit.

Background & production

Ballantine's dates back to 1827 and is one of the world's biggest-selling blended Scotch brands. It is now made by Chivas Brothers, part of Pernod Ricard.

The 21 Year Old is a premium blend in which every malt and grain whisky has been aged for at least 21 years. Within a range that runs through 12 and 17 years, it is the mellower, deeper expression.

It is bottled at 40% ABV.
