It was conceived as a whisky to mix with soda, and a highball brings out its spice and smoke. Topping it with ginger ale is another classic.
Food pairing

Background & production
The most accessible blend in the Johnnie Walker range. It existed for some years as Walker's Special Old Highland with a red label before brothers George and Alexander Walker launched it as Johnnie Walker Red Label in 1909. It was created as a lighter blend for drinking with soda.
It blends up to 35 malt and grain whiskies, including Cardhu, Caol Ila, Cameronbridge and Teaninich.
Sold in more than 200 markets, it is regarded as the best-selling Scotch whisky in the world. Bottled at 40% ABV.
