How to enjoy it

  • Highball
  • On the rocks
  • Cocktails

Light and easy-going, it pairs easily with food as a highball or with water. It is also smooth on the rocks and a handy cocktail base.

Food pairing

Everyday food — fried chicken, yakitori or pizza.

Background & production

It traces back to 1827, when George Ballantine opened a grocery shop in Edinburgh and began selling whisky. It is now made by Chivas Brothers, part of Pernod Ricard.

Its "fingerprint" malts are Miltonduff and Glenburgie from Speyside, blended with many other malt and grain whiskies.

As of 2021 it was the world's second best-selling Scotch after Johnnie Walker. Finest is bottled without an age statement at 40% ABV.
