Loch Lomond
Scotland / Highlands · Founded 1964
A distillery in Alexandria, at the southern end of Loch Lomond, using straight-neck stills to make a light, fruity spirit.
History & character
Located in Alexandria, south of Loch Lomond. It was founded in 1964 by Duncan Thomas, owner of Littlemill, and first distilled in 1966.
Its hallmark is the straight-neck pot still — a design Thomas had trialled at Littlemill — installed alongside conventional pot stills to draw off a light, fruity spirit.
The distillery closed in 1984 but resumed malt production under new owners in 1987. Grain whisky production began in 1993, and more stills were added in 1999.
