The Cotswolds Distillery

England / Cotswolds · Founded 2014

A Cotswolds distillery making single malt from local barley — one of the leaders of the English whisky revival.

History & character

Founded in 2014 by entrepreneur Daniel Szor at Stourton, near Shipston-on-Stour, in the Cotswolds. It was among the early producers in the modern revival of English whisky, and its first single malt was released in 2017.

The whisky is made from barley grown locally in the Cotswolds and traditionally floor-malted. The distillery runs four whisky stills alongside gin stills.

Berry Bros. & Rudd took a minority stake in 2023, and since March 2025 Cotswolds has been the largest producer of English whisky.
