Fettercairn
Scotland / Highlands · Founded 1824
A distillery in the village of Fettercairn at the foot of the Grampians. A unique cooling ring that bathes its stills in cold water helps produce a light, tropical-fruited spirit.
History & character
The distillery stands in the village of Fettercairn in the Howe of the Mearns, beneath the foothills of the Grampian mountains in eastern Scotland. It was founded in 1824 by the local laird, Sir Alexander Ramsay.
A copper ring around the spirit stills runs cold water down their outside, a unique system said to yield a lighter, purer spirit.
The unicorn on the bottle comes from the Ramsay family crest. The distillery is now owned by Whyte & Mackay.
